IOR Aviation Opens King Island’s First Aviation Refuelling Facility in Decades

Australian owned and operated fuel supplier, IOR Aviation, has today announced the opening of King Island Airport’s first aviation refuelling facility in decades.

King Island Airport is the gateway for travel to and from the island and a lifeline for the island’s tourism economy, emergency services, and freight providers.

Head of Aviation, Bryce Morland said that he is proud that IOR Aviation can play a role in enabling flights from more locations to and from the island.

“IOR Aviation’s refuelling facility will help with increasing passenger and freight payloads, and ultimately remove the requirement for pilots to triangulate return journeys. It will help make travel to and from the island more accessible and economical.

“Even more critical, the aviation refuelling facility will benefit King Island’s emergency services capabilities.

“Up until now, emergency services only had a small stock of Jet A1 drums to rely on when refuelling aircraft. IOR Aviation’s solution will support emergency services to improve their suppression capabilities,” Mr Morland said.

After being awarded the contract for the new aviation fuel facility, IOR Aviation fabricated and installed the tank within two weeks to meet King Island Council’s requirements.

“Our team in Victoria has worked with the local council to install the new on-site refuelling facility and provide aviators with the option to refuel on the island. Whether they’re crossing the Bass Strait or heading to King Island, they can count on IOR Aviation,” said Mr Morland.

Aviators can refuel with Jet A1 on King Island 24/7 via Fuelcharge or IOR Commercial Account Tag. King Island Airport joins IOR Aviation’s expanding network of on-airport refuelling locations at nearly 30 airports in Regional Australia.
