Recently, IOR committed to becoming a key sponsor of Heart of Australia – a program that embodies the most innovative approach to specialist medical service delivery in generations.
Heart of Australia is the brainchild of Brisbane based cardiologist Rolf Gomes. The program is a mobile service that will deliver fortnightly specialist medical investigation and treatment clinics to regional, rural and remote area communities across Queensland – starting in South West Queensland.
The innovative program has involved converting a road train into a specialist medical clinic. Heart of Australia’s first customised road train has already been completed and is scheduled to travel more than 72,000 kilometres in its first year on the road, covering an area of more than 450,000 square kilometres.
Heart of Australia will be officially launched in the coming months and will deliver valuable services to the regional communities of Queensland. The program aims to eventually go national – improving the health and lives of all regionally and remotely located Australians.
IOR Managing Director Stewart Morland is thrilled to be supporting the program.
“IOR are excited to be approached about involvement in a regional program that could have immediate and long lasting impacts on regional Australians. This program will provide greater access to quality doctors and equipment closer to their homes and on a more frequent basis than presently exists.”
This sponsorship will complement IOR’s strong ongoing commitment to regional Australia through its previous and ongoing sponsorships that include CareFlight, the Channel Country Ladies Day, the Quilpie Shire Dinosaur Dig and many more community events.
