New Charlton supersite now open

June 9, 2017
June 9, 2017

10797 Warrego Highway, Charlton (QLD)

IOR Petroleum continued its Queensland site expansion with a new, 24/7 diesel stop open today in Charlton, near Toowoomba. The new IOR Petroleum site features IOR’s latest “tap and go” TAG technology, with 11 fast-flow nozzles for fast refuelling, toilets and showers.

There is also a load-out facility to support bulk deliveries to farms, businesses and civil construction projects.

The Charlton site was opened this morning with a country morning tea and barbecue to coincide with Toowoomba FarmFest, officiated by Mayor Paul Antonio.

Members of the local and regional communities were treated to an “old time” country morning tea and barbecue, which had food, prizes and giveaways.

The Heart of Australia semi-trailer and LifeFlight helicopter, both proudly sponsored by IOR Petroleum, were also featured at the event.

The Charlton site marks a key location for freight and logistics connectivity on the Warrego Highway alongside major developments, including Wellcamp Airport, the Toowoomba Enterprise Hub and the proposed Inland Rail route.

IOR Petroleum Managing Director Stewart Morland said the diesel stop was integral to connecting the extensive IOR network to Brisbane, the Western Downs and beyond.

“Located on the gateway to the Toowoomba Enterprise Hub, the Charlton site complements one of the most significant transport, logistics and business regions of growth in Australia,” Mr Morland said.

“Given the 24/7 nature of businesses in the area, this site provides 24-hour services around the clock.”

Drop in and visit the new Charlton site at 10797 Warrego Highway, Charlton (QLD), or call IOR Petroleum on 1300 457 467 for more information.

New petroleum supersite to bolster Toowoomba development

June 2, 2017
June 2, 2017

The Toowoomba region is leading IOR Petroleum’s Queensland site expansion with a new, 24/7 diesel stop opening next week.

The Charlton site marks a key location for freight and logistics connectivity on the Warrego Highway alongside major developments, including Wellcamp Airport, the Toowoomba Enterprise Hub and the proposed Inland Rail route.

The new IOR Petroleum site features IOR’s latest “tap and go” TAG technology, with 11 fast-flow nozzles for fast refueling.

There is also a load-out facility to support bulk deliveries to farms, businesses and civil construction projects.

IOR Petroleum’s Charlton site will be opened with a country morning tea and barbecue to coincide with Toowoomba FarmFest on Thursday, 8 June, officiated by Mayor Paul Antonio.

The opening precedes IOR Petroleum’s unmanned Dalby site, due later this year, which will further contribute to the pickup in economic activity in the Downs region.

Further, IOR sites opening soon include Warwick and Barcaldine.

IOR Petroleum Managing Director Stewart Morland said the diesel stop was integral to connecting the extensive IOR network to Brisbane, the Western Downs and beyond.

“Located on the gateway to the Toowoomba Enterprise Hub, the Charlton site will complement one of the most significant transport, logistics and business regions of growth in Australia,” Mr Morland said.

“Given the 24/7 nature of businesses in the area, this site will provide 24-hour services around the clock.”

TSBE Executive Chairman Shane Charles said the new Charlton site was perfectly positioned to service the industrial needs of the Toowoomba Enterprise Hub well into the future.

“There’s going to be significant industrial and commercial users at the Enterprise Hub as it develops, and last week’s sod-turning at InterlinkSQ is a signal of works commencing,” Mr Charles said.

“There’s no secret that TSBE sees Toowoomba as the inland port of Australia, being the home to many national transport operators because of the heavy industrial use in the area.

“The Toowoomba Enterprise Hub is a key piece of infrastructure that will complement the expected growth in the Toowoomba region, and is one of the largest pieces of industrial land in South-East Queensland.”

IOR is an Australian-owned business that has been supporting regional and outback Australia since 1984 through community sponsorship, innovation technology and friendly, reliable “bush” service.

What:
All members of the local and regional communities are invited to come and enjoy an “old time” country morning tea and barbecue. The launch event will be a great opportunity for locals to meet with other businesses and industries from Toowoomba and the surrounding areas.

Everyone is welcome to attend the launch event, which will have food, prizes and giveaways, set among a fun atmosphere of hay bales, balloons and music.

The Heart of Australia semi-trailer and LifeFlight helicopter, both proudly sponsored by IOR Petroleum, will also be featured at the event, as well as IOR’s newest prime mover and tanker.

Congratulations, John, for representing the IOR spirit.

May 23, 2017
May 23, 2017

Travelling can be unpredictable. You never know what will happen on the road, what lies ahead or what might happen in the middle of the night.

Recently, Denise Markham and her companions were travelling from Central Coast to Wellington near midnight when a kangaroo appeared, jumping straight into their car, causing it to break down.

Denise and her companions were stranded in the dark with no mobile service and no “Plan B”. Moments later, a petrol tanker pulled over. A man carrying a torch approached them and, out of concern, let them borrow his mobile phone so that they could call for help. The man had to meet delivery deadlines so he offered to leave his torch and phone, telling them he would be back in a few hours. Assuming they would have received help by then, he told the travellers to just leave his phone beside one of the white posts on the side of the road. On his way back from his delivery, he spotted the group and stayed with them until help arrived.

IOR Petroleum is so very grateful to have team members like John Ralston: the man with the torch, the phone and the petrol tanker.

From the whole team at IOR, thank you John for embodying the spirit of “bush” service, and to Denise for sharing with us this story of mateship from one of our own.

We’re here. We’re local. We’re growing!

April 29, 2017
April 29, 2017

Since 1984, IOR Petroleum has been an Australian-owned family company, helping fuel regional and remote Australia with more than 60 diesel stop facilities and fuel depots. Today, we shine a spotlight on the next generation of IOR’s 24/7 unmanned diesel stops across Queensland, which will enable us to provide you with even better service and fuel management efficiency.

Charlton – Toowoomba Launch

This year, IOR has opened new sites at Gundagai, Barcaldine and Mt Hope (NSW). Our latest opening, timed to coincide with Toowoomba FarmFest in early June, is our Toowoomba Enterprise Hub site on the Warrego Highway at Charlton.

The facility will be unmanned and have 16 fast-flow nozzles with a load-out facility discharging at 900L/min. This site will enable us to provide a fast and reliable delivery service for bulk fuel users in the region. We welcome everyone to the opening party during FarmFest week.

YOUR INVITATION

IOR Petroleum is opening its supersite at Charlton with sizzle

You are invited to the launch of the new unmanned 24/7 Diesel Stop at Charlton, officiated by Mayor Paul Antonio.

The new site is cashless, featuring the latest “tap and go tag” technology as well as a load out facility for bulk diesel deliveries to farms, businesses and civil construction projects in the region.

All members of the local and regional communities are invited to come and enjoy an “old time” country morning tea and barbecue.

Fuelling regional and outback Australia since 1984, IOR is a family-owned business, as well as a proud supporter of Heart of Australia, LifeFlight and various grass-roots community initiatives throughout the outback.

The launch event will be a great opportunity for locals to meet with other businesses and industries from Toowoomba and the surrounding areas.

We will be announcing event details very soon, so head to www.ior.com.au for more information, or follow IOR on Facebook or Twitter.

We “go the extra mile” for you…

New locations in the coming months for:

Dalby, QLD: located just off the Warrego Highway, we are providing a great addition to our network for existing fleet users and local businesses at our new Dalby site. We will be in town with our friendly and reliable bulk fuel delivery services for users in the wider region and look forward to meeting you.

Warwick, QLD: located centrally in town, we are excited to bring IOR’s great “bush” service to the Southern Downs for main line freight carriers, farms and industries alike. Our site is drive-through, easy to access and will offer our unique bulk fuel delivery service.

Gracemere, QLD: the facility will be located to the south on the Capricorn Hwy and will provide easy access for all. As well as the 24/7 unmanned Diesel Stop facility, the site will also be developed as a mechanical workshop to maintain our fleet of trucks and trailers servicing Central Queensland. This new hub for our fleet will enable faster and more efficient delivery to customers throughout Central Queensland.

Other sites to operate soon are located at Barcaldine and Yatala in Queensland, as well as Port Augusta in South Australia.

Unique products and solutions

IOR has been a pioneer in the development of self-bunded, above-ground fuel storage systems, and has developed world leading technology to help you track and manage your fuel use. Our TAG system enables cashless transactions anywhere in Australia at our unmanned facilities and this is how IOR fuels road transport, farms and businesses operating across mainland Australia.

IOR’s state-of-the-art fuel monitoring and tracking systems offer unique opportunities for you to gain savings on your fleet and equipment management and ensure that you will never run out of fuel, even in the most remote parts of Australia.

IOR has become the “go to” fuel solutions provider because of its safety and compliance history, local easy-to-contact staff, tank solutions capabilities, reliability, fleet ownership and technology.

Services to more industries

Our technology leadership enables us to provide integrated fuel management and storage solutions delivering reduced operating costs to our customers. For more than 30 years, IOR has been the choice of businesses across the road freight, livestock carrying, agribusiness, oil and gas industries for fuel supply.

In recent years, IOR has also grown its aviation fuel business with a focus on supporting users in remote and regional areas. The division supports local airports, crop sprayers, tourism operators, emergency services and farm users and provides high quality Shell JetA1 and Avgas fuels.

IOR sources its products from Australia’s leading fuel refiners and importers, ensuring high quality fuel and reliability.

We’re here. We’re local. We’re women.

April 27, 2017
April 27, 2017

In an industry typically dominated by men, women are becoming an increasingly visible part of the supply chain. With a rise in female quotas in the fuel and transport sectors, gender diversity is being recognised for providing broader skills, innovation and work- life balance. In this feature, IOR Petroleum stands out with six of its nine Queensland depots operated by women who have been helping fuel regional and outback Australia since 1984.

“Fuel in my veins”

For Tammy Andrews, IOR Petroleum’s rural site supervisor in Roma and Injune, there is no such thing as a “typical” day at work. During her daily tasks you will find her working closely with fellow frontliners Wendy Farndon and Christie Kelly, both part-time depot administrators at Injune. No two days are the same for this lady from Charleville who says, in her words, “I have fuel in my veins”.

“Women have been in the background of the industry for many years, but these days there are more women on the frontline, driving the trucks and being part-owners,” she said.

Kellie Athorn from IOR’s Cloncurry depot agrees. “A lot of husband and wife teams don’t need to be separated anymore,” she said. “Women are now amongst it. I have been with IOR for six years now with my husband, and we couldn’t ask for a better workplace. We love what we do and it’s great to see so many women in the industry.”

A role like no other

For Melissa Leadbetter at IOR’s Goondiwindi depot, a sense of teamwork and support is what encourages her in her day-to-day role with marketers, drivers and sales personnel. “We have a real community spirit here,” she said. “In IOR, we support one another, work together as a team and enjoy the company we work with.”

The importance of family

Like many IOR frontline team members, Jo Mildon from IOR’s Chinchilla and Miles depots also works alongside her husband and values the benefits a family-oriented workplace like IOR can offer. “Working with my husband in the same team allows us versatility, so we are able to juggle our family schedules together,” she said. “The growth of visible, female roles in frontline services like ours can offer a broader range of skill sets and improve the work-life balance for the whole team, which is absolutely a benefit that is passed on to all our customers.”

IOR staff aim to raise funds for CareFlight in the lead up to Bridge to Brisbane

IOR has a team participating in the Bridge to Brisbane for the second year running. This year, the Bridge to Brisbane held on Sunday 28 August, celebrates its 20th year with a new course highlighting Brisbane’s most iconic landmarks including the Story Bridge.

In addition to our quest for fitness, we are also aiming to fundraise over $700 for CareFlight Rescue as this cause is crucial to many of our customers and staff in remote and regional Australia.

IOR Petroleum and IOR Aviation have been long term supporters of RACQ CareFlight and our Managing Director, Stewart Morland has been a serving member of the Careflight Board of Directors for a number of years. This is an organisation close to our hearts as we operate in many regional and rural towns across Australia including Queensland that benefit from the lifesaving emergency services they provide.

Alice has now finished her second book, The Driver, which is a look into the lives and stories behind Australia’s trucking industry.

A production of road train proportions, and a project unlike anything you will have seen before, it focuses on real people and real stories enhanced by striking imagery from every state and territory across Australia and New Zealand.

Heart of Australia – Saving lives in regional Queensland

August 21, 2015
August 21, 2015

Living in rural and remote communities can have its challenges, including regular access to local specialist medical services.  Often people are required to travel to bigger cities, hundreds or thousands of kilometres from their homes for potentially lifesaving investigative or diagnostic medical appointments.

IOR Petroleum services remote and regional Australia with depots and 24/7 unmanned Diesel Stops which includes a large footprint across Queensland. We understand the impact and importance of giving back to the communities in which we operate, this includes support for the Heart of Australia program.  This mobile  clinic provides specialist cardiac and respiratory services travelling to 11 regional Queensland towns including Roma, Dalby, Charleville, St George, Goondiwindi, Emerald, Barcaldine, Charters Towers, Moranbah and Longreach.  This service saves an average distance of 650km travelled per patient on each visit!

Since the program launched in October 2014, the customised specialist clinic road train has managed to provide care for over 1,700 patients, with 11 being identified for open heart surgery.  That’s a lot of lives potentially saved and as a business with a direct link to the areas serviced by Heart of Australia, we are excited to support this initiative.

Barbara, an IOR customer based in Roma wrote to us recently about her very positive experience with the Heart of Australia clinic.  We are very pleased to hear that Barbara is feeling better and that the program has made such a difference to the life of one of our customers.

“I am just writing to say thank you for your sponsorship of the Heart of Australia truck. I recently had heart issues and through the perseverance of the attending Cardiologist at the truck and my GP, my problem was located and rectified.

I may not be as well as I am today without this service and it is greatly appreciated.

I have a follow up appointment towards the end of this month. Not having to travel away to attend a service such as this is wonderful.”
